The basic requirements are:
1. The material has high plasticity, toughness and hardness under heat treatment;
2. The material should have high fatigue strength and wear resistance;
3. The material should have high air cooling hardening;
4. And the heat treatment process is simple, low cost and so on.
If the hot insert process is adopted, the steel for the drill head body must also have the following points:
a) The hardness shall reach 40 ~ 50HRC under heat treatment;
B) It has high-strength physical properties to ensure high tooth fixing ability;
c) It has certain high temperature strength and thermal stability to ensure the fixed tooth strength during use;
d) High fatigue strength and wear resistance;
e) High linear expansion coefficient and tempering stability;
f) It is easy to soften and anneal and has good dimensional stability and processability (processability includes cutting performance, reaming performance, finish, etc.).
